I can confirm this issue i Lucid (ubuntu-10.04.1-server-amd64.iso and cryptsetup 1.1.0~rc2-1ubuntu13) as well as in the Maverick Beta (ubuntu-10.10-beta-server-amd64.iso and cryptsetup 1.1.2-1ubuntu1). I am not entirely sure on whatever this is an issue with cryptsetup or some other component. **
