This bug is still extant on 11.10. Checked the anacron job and nice is
set to 19, but it still maxed out my dual-core E8400 and caused music
playback to stutter horrifically. That's a bit ridiculous for a
background maintenance job.

You're quite right, the problem isn't 2D specific, or even Unity. Steps
to reproduce:
1) Log into any desktop (Unity, Unity 2D, Gnome 2)
2) Battery applet shows correctly
3) Suspend and resume
4) Applet now shows battery life twice

now starts up and is stable.

Apport threw up this crash, but otherwise the system appeared to be
working fine. Machine is an Eeepc901, the only thing I was doing was a
fairly high amount of disk I/O (I was using Bleachbit to clean out some
junk). This machine has an SSD. The system seems to have

Confirmed (again) this workaround does the trick. I omitted the chown
step, as that seems like it good cause trouble, doesn't seem to have
been necessary on my machine, but then I haven't rebooted.
Maybe one of the devs could chip in and comment on whether the chown is
a good idea or not.

I report the original bug, but no longer use the DG33FB board, so am
