I rebooted my Ubuntu 20.04.01 LTS OS via SSH and I was unable to reboot.
About 7 seconds into the boot process, I get "Kernel Panic - not
syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)". I did NOT
upgrade any packages before rebooting.

My regular setup is a laptop with an external monitor and when I have
the external monitor connected, I want to disable to built-in laptop
screen.
After upgrading to 13.10, my previous display configuration stopped
working.
However, I was finally able to get it similar to before by:

The program that created the disk image seems confused, but it worked for
creating a VM for FC11.
Windows install seems to run fine, until wanting to boot from the drive it
created.
I don't know what creates the drive image and geometry, but it is broken.

Great solution Andreas, it worked for a Win2k image which I could only
boot previously using an iso from http://www.resoo.org/docs/ntldr/files/
However, I have a w7 image that I have never managed to boot, apart from
its installation cd image using virt-install

Are these virtual machine images based on a GUI install or an
alternative install? I have only attempted to install via the
alternative CD, as the GUI CD fails to install using my Dell 1520.

Package ttf-opensymbol fails to update through update manager on default 7.04
in
UPDATE: I installed the package ubuntu-restricted-extras and the ttf-
opensymbol package successfully installed.
I then performed two more installs, first install I confirmed the repetition of
the bug.
Second install:
1. I updated all packages with the exception of all those relating to
OpenOffi
I have tried to use Synaptic's force version to roll back to
2.2.0-1ubuntu3 (which came with Fiesty) but get the following error:
E: ttf-opensymbol: subprocess post-installation script returned error
exit status 66
Finally, I attempted to install the package using terminal and I attach

have updated using the default repositories and using the update manager

I've come across this bug in both 6.06 and 6.06.1 - I'm going to try
Edgy Beta now... but I'm guessing from the posts above that nm-applet is
going to have issues again.
