Saucy+nvidia-319 works with "nvidia.modeset=1". Do not add "nomodeset".
Saucy+nvidia-319-updates says "Validated MetaModes: "NULL"", and does not work,
similarly to Trusty+nvidia-319-updates or Trusty+nvidia-337 from xorg-edgers.

I have exactly the same problem, Alienware M17x with intel+gtx 770M.
Worked on 13.10, validated metamodes NULL after upgrade.

Fixed, was caused by bad symlink to /usr/bin/gcc ...:-S
