The problem now is how to get at the xorg.conf, or whatever, that the
install is using, that is causing the video to be left in that state.
No openssh server at that point, and the consoles are 'dead'
(alt-F1/2/3/4 fail to make any difference, and the same for Ctrl-Alt-FX,
i.e. it's not stuck in X,

On doing dpkg-reconfiguer xserver-xorg I note that when it gets to the
