The Xorg.0.log above it from the dapper live cd. The exact same thing
happens with later versions of the Ubuntu live cd and it always have to
reconfigure X to use vesa to get the live cd to work.

On powerpc with a ppc64-smp kernel, I have taken off 'quiet' but left on
'splash'. The text on the screen scrolls up over top of the progress
bar. When the progress bar repaints, it overwrites that top part of the
text.

RhythmBox see the tags fine, but other apps like EasyTag, Audio Tag
Tool, Windows Media Player 10 and the id3 id3v2 command line apps
can't read the tags.
Winamp can read the tags and I used that to copy the tags from id3v2 to
I get this error on Edgy now. It only recently started occurring so I
don't know if it's a hardware issue. The end effect for me is that X
fails to start because there's no configured mouse... I'm using the
evdev driver.

Progress! dmraid in the Feisty archives is finally rc13. I've already
tested dmraid in feisty from the archives, can a couple of you test it
and post your (hopeful) success here?
Once we get two more successes the request to backport this working
dmraid to edgy will go through.

As with the previous poster, the sound is currently coming out both the
internal speaker and the external one, with the external one being much
quieter.
In the Gnome Volume Control, I can disable Speakers and then it no
longer comes out the internal speakers. If I turn on Line-Out, then
the
it's synced I'll confirm it works with Herd 1 then request a
backport to edgy.

The -Q flag simply suppresses errors in the modprobe line during
initialization. The decision should be trivial on whether to keep it or not.
There's benefit in it either way. But if dropping it means dmraid can be
synced I'd say drop it.

If you want to get more information during boot, to troubleshoot why it
hangs for a few minutes or any other issue, when grub comes up edit the
grub command and remove the quiet and splash options from the end.
In fact, remove the splash option first and see if you can see your
error message,
Just to note, after assisting WattoDaToydarian and Eleazar they now have
their raid working in Edgy.

From my count everyone but tormod's dmraid was broken, but tormod was
using an Intel raid, where problems existed for via and nvidia raids, as
far as I know.

Install the generic kernel. If you already have it, remove it first.

Note: when I had compositioning disabled it broke other things. I could
not switch to a VT and switch back... I'd get a blank screen with only
my mouse cursor moving. And the gnome-screensaver did not work

To Jeremy and others trying the new rc13 package, when you install it it
will update the initrd for the currently running kernel. If you need to
update an initrd for a kernel that's not currently running, but that you
intent to boot to issue a command like this:
update-initramfs -k kernel version
This new package will also fix another bug in dmraid:
