I debating whether to wait on an official Ubuntu Update to fix this OR
do an "outside of repository" install from
https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads
Please advise.

I've been running your patch repository in Ubuntu 15.04, and my "saved"
credentials keep getting forgotten for vpnc connections:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1465348
Is it possible that this could be caused by your patch?

Since I submitted this back in June, and have yet to see any work-around

After upgrading to Ubuntu 15.04, I'm again experiencing this issue of
Network Manager forgetting saved group and user credentials for vpnc
connections. At least once per day I'm prompted for these credentials
that were already set to be "saved" in Network Manager.
Sometimes this "forgetting" happe

I can also confirm that Pavel's patch works. Here are the steps I did:
Patch for Ubuntu 15.04 (vivid):
1) Open the sources file using the nano file editor:
sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
2) Add these two lines to the bottom of the /etc/apt/sources.list
file:

14.04 is Trusty, right? Well, 14.04 doesn't exhibit this bug. 14.10
does, and after upgrading to 14.10 I had to go back to 14.04 because of
this bug. 15.04 did not exhibit this bug either (until a couple of
months after release), then there too I had to downgrade to 14.04 again
to avoid this bug.
I see that the status is "Fix Released". Does this mean if I upgraded
from 14.04 to 15.04 (right now), I would not experience this bug
anymore?

** Description changed:
Today, I've just experienced Network Manager forgetting my save
credentials for a vpnc connection.
I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04.2 last week where:
1) I installed the network-manager-vpnc package.
2) I use Network Manager to set up a VPNC connection.
