Well, I found what may be a partial solution to this most annoying
problem. If you have Desktop Effects turned on try this:
1. Go to System -> Preferences -> CompizConfig Settings Manager.
2. Click on the 'General Options' button.
3. Click the 'Focus & Rise Behavior' tab.
4. Change the 'Focus Prev

You could not have been blind, this is by far the most infuriating bug I
have ever experienced. Since recently upgrading to 10.04 I have had this
bug and I would sacrifice many small children to get rid of it.
I usually experience this bug when opening a new Firefox instance while
in Komodo Edit (
