I've noticed when crafty starts to tantrum, if I am quick (within a
second) i can CTRL+C and it will take roughly 5-10 seconds before the
crafty processes die. I've tried running it with nice, as it seems to be
utilizing all the CPU strength, but to no avail.

On my HP Nc6400, I noticed that on resume from suspend > 5mins, the X server
would freeze, and only a 'kill -9 X' via ssh could restore things. Shorter
suspends didn't give any problem.
