I know the hardware works, because sound worked fine in Windows before I
installed Ubuntu.
However, I am unable to boot back to Windows to try things because I
wiped the drive when I installed.

I was attempting to run a game in Wine, but it wasn't working well.
Regardless, I had no sound before I installed Wine, and I have no sound
after I removed Wine, so I doubt Wine is the problem ;)

I have restarted the system several times over the course of the last
day (sleep / resume is having issues as well, so I'm doing a full shut
down every time I'm going to close the lid).
