After 2 years of Mozilla Thunderbird messing up my davical and repeatedly
having to clean it up so that my Android devices would sync again, I took the
hard decision (I've been using it since the early 2000s) to stop using it and
switched to another mail client.

My current assessment of this bug is that it will never be fixed because
if you use Google Calendar they have a server side fix for this already
and seeing as they sponsor development, I don't think they want it to be
fixed.
