I can confirm this for Ubuntu 8.04.2 (2.6.24-22-generic) on a Dell
Precision 280 desktop with a Nvidia FX1400 running the default generic
driver.

Same problem with Dell Precision 380. I have an old, expensive
ergonomic keyboard that uses PS/2. The system's own setup menus and
GRUB loader have no problem seeing this keyboard, but as soon as Feisty
