My system is back in operation. I flashed the BIOS (3 times- 3rd time with the LiveCD using the 'flashrom' utility) and the installation worked. My clue was the assigment of my main drive to SDB instead of SDA. It seems the BIOS or some setting was odd. The only remaining issue is the maximum reso
