FYI - I've been able to achieve 12 days of uptime thus far. Same duty
cycle, same hardware, same software, etc. 10.04 will automatic updates,
default settings (beyond specifying the server kernel image.)
Only, 32bit - not 64.

I'm in this same boat, running 10.04, amd64, and am seeing close-to-
random system freezes, typically when the system is under heavy IO load.
I'm getting nothing in any logs about it, as it seems the freeze is
taking the disk IO system with it. I've tried everything suggested with
no change yet.
I just experienced this same error using a 64-bit version of 9.04.
I did not experience it on the 32-bit version.

One more: I also used the hald supplied by Chris and it fixed it. Same
symptom - md's causing hal to crash.
