I know this isn't really a work around but until there really is a fix
for this... here is my way of dealing with it...
I have (out of frustration) started using the xorg keyboard-mouse-
emulator, and disable/enable the touchpad as needed with two bash
scripts. I include this only to help someone
I found the fix mentioned here

For Ubuntu Karmic Koala upgrade from mysql 5.0 to mysql 5.1 (mysql-
server-5.1 5.1.37-1ubuntu5.1)
was what I needed. The apparmor stuff was a red herring (false clue)
for me.

wifi-radar package 1.9.9-1.1 should "Depend" on ubuntu menu package to provide
su-to-root (used in menu item created by wifi-radar).
Alternatively menu item could use gksu instead of su-to-root.
