I'm also trying to access the Firefox key store from Java and cannot do
that.
I don't see why it's so hard to load NSS by yourself. I think that the
provider should be removed from the java provider security file since it
completely breaks all Java NSS implementations

It seems as if the fix to this bug created another bug which makes NSS
unusable for anything other than crypto operations:

Perhaps the tests are to blame and not NSS itself?

point of it at all if a false IP for the hostname is still accepted as a
valid connection.
Also, why is there no setting to make it timeout after a certain number
