The instructions I originally wrote up for the workaround were pretty sketchy. loliverouge actually wrote up this really nice step-by-step piece on pulling down the files from my server and installing the custom kernel that I compiled. From what I've been seeing on this thread, it has been working

Okay, I think I have a reasonable workaround until it gets fixed in the official kernel. I used the recommendation from Dany Martineau earlier and removed the listed lines from ec.c in the stock ubuntu kernel. I rebuilt the kernel, restricted-modules and ubuntu-modules and created the deb packages

Yes, I should have mentioned that - this probably does not eliminate the need for the custom DSDT file, it just makes it so it actually works again when you put it in place :-) I know that I still have my DSDT in place. -Brint -- toshiba p100 series dsdt acpi error no sound, works with acpi
