It is very easy:
You can make the Door-Icon an logout-Icon. So there is no menu. It just
logs out, without confirmation.
Install gTweakUI - Session with the Packet-Manager.
Then open gTweakUI and deactivate the cross at Show Logout-Menu or
similar.

sudo gconf-editor
Then go to:
apps/gnome-session/options/
There is a bool-key called logout_prompt.
Set it to false, you can make the key manditory or default by right-clicking.

My experience:
I could install edubuntu server, also it hangs about 10 min. but then it
resumes.
And it works in VirtualBox.
But ubuntu server 7.10 does not work:
PANIC: CPU too old

The Ubuntu Server wants to enable PAE while booting.
But e.g. VirtualBox does not support PAE, so it does not load.
I could not even install edubuntu server, because it hangs when
installing linux-generic.
