Public bug reported:
This link from Ubuntu's installation guide (on help.ubuntu.com) includes a
(probably mistaken) hyperlink.
https://help.ubuntu.com/9.04/installation-guide/i386/what-is-linux.html
Steps to reproduce:
1. Search for the words "Kernel traffic"
2. Trust me, or click on the text.
This bug is in no way incomplete. My problem, what should have
happened, and the steps taken to reproduce it, if possible, are all
listed.

Of course, for now, it varies greatly between both desktop and laptop

As this happens occasionally for me, I have to say that I can confirm
this bug on 8.04, Hardy Heron.
I haven't been able to find any solutions or workarounds, but I've never
really cared to. I would consider it a pretty serious bug, however.
Nominated to fix from Hardy to Karmic.
