keyboard jumped back fully on-screen.

Just to update - If a card is inserted in the left hand reader, other
internal hard drive partitions become inaccessible. Once the card is
removed they become operational again.

Karmic - Left hand and right hand card readers not working. Right hand
reader continues with the same problems as in previous Ubuntu versions.
But the left hand reader now does not work at all, trying to mount the
card reports this :-
