@Dave - it seems as though it isn't necessarily related to crashes, and
it isn't outputting anything to the terminal. I was able to successfully
install a few packages (plus dependencies), then I went to the

I haven't been able to disable it yet. Upon boot now it says the system

Libre Office was complaining about no jre, so I installed jre.
After reboot, unity would show up and then disappear. No bar at the top and no
