Bryce, it was actually my attempt to move to oneiric that caused the
bug to show up. I believe the same driver set is being distributed
with oneiric.
After a thoroughly unproductive time trying to get things straightened
out, I finally moved to SuSE 11.4.

seq is as below: the makefile runs it with sh however (and /bin/sh is

This should be prioritized up. I rebooted the affected system for the
first time since the upgrade, and X won't come up because it can't load
the nvidia driver; the you didn't book in text more, you're hosed
because absent an X server it won't do the vertual consoles either.
