Is there a workaround for this behavior? I am having the exact same
issue using the bundled mysql client:

Inserting a cd into the cd/dvd burner does not cause it to be
recognized. This happens most often after waking from suspend, but also
has happened from a fresh boot. I've found that if I remove and readd
the scsi device:

I concur. This is a major problem. My desired setup for VPN usage is
to tunnel all traffic to specific subnets through the VPN, and all other
traffic goes out the normal default gateway for the network. Having the
VPN interface forced as the default gateway makes the connection
basically unusabl
