I booted up my 'secondary' PC; an old 2008 optiplex that is BIOS only,
its last plucky install was made with 2025-04-07 ISO, and I had no
issues then.
That is a single partition install (only `/`) but there are other
partitions ignored during install (currently oracular, no
FYI: I've done many installs on BIOS only machines using manual
partitioning (only replace.partition with 0417 ISO though, so older ISOs
only), without issue...

I didn't find the duplicate; I think because I used an existing bug
report that was really a different issue we had at the time... but I'm
guessing here as I didn't find it.
I also made mention of it on irc or matrix; but whatever was sa

There will ALWAYS be failures to access archive.ubuntu.com; the need to
be ONLINE being the bug.
The crash causes calamares to stop, and thus boot loader never gets
written & machine fails to boot.

(it was the primary installer last on 22.10), no such legacy installer
