I just found out that this behavior occures when the XHCI pre-boot mode
is enabled in the BIOS. Disabling it solve the issue.

It will freeze after "Loading initial memory disk" (or something like
this, this is a translation from french) and stay on the purple screen.
If I put the usb key in (no matter what is on it) after that line, it
gonna read on the usb key then, keep on it's boot procedure.

I have installed Ubuntu 12.10 manualy on a dual boot with a USB key.
Almost every time I boot my system, I need to have a USB key in a port
so it can keep on going. It does not need to be a boot key or one with
Ubuntu on, anything will do as long as it is in the port.

My knowledge of device driver and initiation in Linux is at 0 at the
moment but, I had an idea of what could be the problem. Could it be that
there is something not set at the right time in the driver that would
make the device not recognize when Hot plugged that is automatically
do
And just to add, when I hot plug it, for it to work, I simply need to
type:
sudo alsa force-reload
and it will be properly detected

New Laptop (Asus G73JW A1) New Ubuntu installation (10.10) same issue,
Note that Logitech G35 Heaset are seen without any problem and, they are
the same kind.

My Razer Megalodon Headset is only seen has an input device if I hot
plug it in the USB port. When connected prior to booting the system,
they are seen has input and output device (7.1, 5.1, 4.1, stereo). If
after booting with them connected, I disconnect them I can at anytime
