Modeswitching modem not working with some USB 3.0 host
I didn't have time to test another kernel as requested higher in the
thread, but I found a workaround in the usbmodeswitch forums :

I too have this problem,
My config Asus ZenBook Prime UX-31A, and USB modems are Huawei E372 and
an old Qualcomm Icon 7.2, both modems have problems switching unless
already plugged in at boot time.
What kinf of information (logs or other) can I give you to help solving
this bug ?

BT seems to be working OK now to see and browse my mobile phone (I this
reinstalling all the BT packages did the trick).
I also managed to connect a BT headset without any problem.
But my BT mouse still doesn't connect.

Ok, first I had to change a few things for the modem to be recognized as
a modem (th first time it is plugged it is detected a s a storage
device).
Since It was quite some times ago, I'll sum up with a few infos I got with a
few web searches.

I forgot to tell that I deactivated the sim pin code.
Sometimes I need to try to connect a few time before it actually works,
I even sometime need to force restart of NM because I end up with a
zombie pppd using ttyUSB0.

I just had gusty working again by installing linux-image-
debug-2.6.22-9-generic after booting with an install cd and selecting
'repair' installaion from the menu, then shell on /dev/sda1 (sorry if
these are not the exact terms, I'm typing this from memory)..

It seems that gksuexec isn't part of the gksu package anymore...

Ok, I made some more tests, this time on a 'clean' install of dapper (as a
guest OS with mware server).
userA is the first account and is sudoer.
userB is the second account and is NOT sudoer.

I also have problems with lots of ppp0 rx errors when I use the 3G card
and I think this may be due or contributed to by the ACPI code. My
workaround, to reduce the rx errors, is to disable the ACPI with the
New comment regarding the last one... and it's getting even more
strange.
This behaviour is happening only when i'm using XGL/compiz, when I start
a 'normal' Gnome session, I'm still at case one : gksuexec isn't working
: no way to launch a program as another user (other than root)...

I have the same problem with my UMTS pcmcia modem : Novatel Wireless

I can connect, but the data transfer rate is very very low and I have a
lot of errors : here is an example for a 30 seconds connection (sorry
it's in french):

It seems that with the new kernel (2.6.15-25-686 ) this problem is now
