I have managed to overcome this problem by uninstalling xorg-server-
video-all and xorg-server-input-all, upgrading then reinstalling them.
Give it a try.

I had a look at my main.log and it looks like my error is triggered when
I get to this point "Installing 'xserver-xorg-video-all' (Distro
KeepInstalledPkgs rule)" then it fails.

I'm having an almost identical issue, I cannot update to 10.10 from 10.04 LTS
because of the error:
