Binary package hint: firefox
While attempting to start firefox, it does nothing. When starting from
terminal, there is no output; it just drops back to the prompt. However,
using gdb, I have been able to determine that firefox is crashing with
the following error:

I have a similar problem with an installation of firefox-3.6 from the
Mozilla Daily PPA that was removed when Firefox 3.6 was uploaded to the
Ubuntu repositories.
Coincidentally, I was using apport-bug to file a bug report on firefox
when I encountered this bug.

Are you sure you are using direct rendering?
Execute in a terminal:
glxinfo | grep "direct rendering"
Not using direct rendering means that everything is done at the software
level - your graphics card isn't doing any of the 3D processing.

The spherecrystal theme in gnome-themes extras makes the vertical
scrollbar very nice and pretty, but the horizontal scrollbar is just a
solid darkish-blue color. Instead, it should look like the vertical
scrollbar, but sideways.
