I know a lot of people say that using Unity 2D gets around the problem.
Is it just Unity and Gnome shell that are affected by this problem? Has
anyone any information on using KDE? Just wondering as it doesn't use
compiz.

Posted here about two months ago. Can't believe this problem is still
going on. This is the second driver in a row that i've had problems with
from Nvidia.
@Reason: Can you confirm whether or not the problem has cropped up yet
after your kernel update or is it still working well?

I was having problems with the 290.40 driver so i added x-swat ppa. I'm
now on 295.53. With the 290.40 driver i couldn't log into either Unity
or Gnome shell. 295.53 solved that problem but i'm
