I have trouble understanding why you seem to believe libflashsupport is
still necessary. Since beta 1, Flash 10 is compatible with PulseAudio
sans libflashsupport, as long as you set the correct PulseAudio device
as per bug #198453 (which should be considered mandatory for a proper

John,
As far as I know it got pulled due to instability. Although beta 1 was
pretty stable (with the advantage of being more compatible with
PulseAudio), beta 2 of Flash uses a lot of CPU and causes crashes with
many common websites.
As for the crashes with beta 2 of Flash, it is actually a bug i

Andrew,
You're using i386? If so, nspluginwrapper isn't necessary - I built that
package for testing purposes. Remove nspluginwrapper and flashplugin-

Also, I have *never* seen Youtube crash from this particular bug, so you
may likely have another prob
Using nspluginwrapper is an imperfect solution. I have some good news on
the situation, but it depends on other bugs getting fixed.
I mentioned in a previous post that Flash 10 beta 2 is unstable even
without libflashsupport installed. This issue specific to the new Flash
version is not PulseAudio
Felix,
I tested your xulrunner and xulunner-1.9-gnome-support packages versions

Hardy installed at the moment) and they indeed fix crashes on common
sites with Flash v10 beta 2 (10.0.1.218+10.0.0.525ubuntu1). Thanks!

Please read the comments of the bug report before reporting, this
subject has been discussed. At this time it is not possible to fix
textinput/combobox widgets without patching Firefox *and* GTK - the
linked upstream bug discusses this.

Andrew,
(This is a bit off-topic). I'm only a user, not a maintainer or
developer, so I can't tell you if it will get backported (by the way,
backports would go into hardy-backports; the purpose of hardy-proposed
is to test releases that may be considered for hardy-updates). In my
opinion, there's
Hi everyone,
This doesn't have a satisfactory fix yet. Flash 10 does *not*
libflashsupport, but it has stability issues unrelated to PulseAudio,
that need fixing in Firefox. Therefore, for the time being, Flash 10
isn't an option.
That leaves us with Flash 9. The closest we got to mitigating this
John, agreed it's better to leave Hardy alone.
As for Intrepid, this bug still exists. The solution is to either wait
for Firefox 3.0.1 (although I'm not sure it will include the fix), or
manually backport the changes as mentioned by Felix (and on the upstream
bug). Intrepid already has up-to-date
Confirmed Felix's observations. This is a bug with wmode (windowless
mode) in Firefox 3.0.
This bug is exposed in Flash 10 beta 2 (the first release that supports
wmode) and new releases of swfdec (also with wmode support), and it is
not related to PulseAudio or libflashsupport (a previous cause o
