from an access point. After thinkinga bout it for sever minutes, it will
throw up an empty password dialog asking for the wifi key. Enter it,
karmic will think for a few more minutes and ask for the password

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
Unfortunately, my laptop died shortly after you responded and I have not
been able to resuscitate it. You might as well close this bug and when I
buy a new laptop for Ubuntu I shall attempt to recreate the problem and
resubmit at that point.

postfix-ldap wanting to be upgraded. It turned out that I had some gusty
archives in my software sources lists used by the package tools because
the machine was an upgrade to 8.04 not a fresh install.

You can make VMware use ALSA instead of OSS by doing teh followng
things:
(all as root, of course)
1. apt-get install alsa-oss
2. chmod u+s /usr/lib/libaoss.so*
