OK - so I created a second account on my system, and logged into it, and
problems gone [not just sound problems, but flash videos play properly,
my browser doesn't hang, I'm able to play 3d games/2d games and not have
X or my computer hang]

update, thanks. (FWIW - under 8.04 and 9.04 with a different TI chip I
get the system locking hard when inserting an SD card and under 8.10 it
would fail when copying files from it).

2.24.2 in Intrepid you can select the resolution to record
video/pictures at. But it does not switch back to the highest
resolution when taking the photo nor can you set the video/picture
resolution independently.

Druid, the conduit developer was suggesting that this issue was likely
fixed when this was reported upstream. Are you still experiencing this
problem? And if it is still an issue, have you tried Intrepid (Ubuntu
8.10) to see if it has resolved it?
