I have the same problem. Empathy doesn't show MSN contacts (it works for
facebook contacts). I see the debug messages on butterfly and shows the
contact's e-mails.

Test if for few hours and let us know if it's stable for you.
For me it's usable (0-4% packet loss) but after some hours it disconnect
and doesn't connect again.

With the latest compat-wireless 2009-10-09, so far I see 0% - 4% packet
loss which I believe is related to the Network-Manager CTRL-EVEN-SCAN-
RESULTS.

Hello Andy,
With the karmic kernel 2.6.31-12.39 I see 40% packet loss when I
transfer files on my lan.
With the backports I see no more than 3% packet loss while I was
transfering 7,5GB of data with the speed of 21mbps.
When the 3% packet loss happens I see on my syslog this message:
I speak too soon. I upgrade to the latest karmic packages and I see a
lot of packet loss again.

It looks like the problem starts after a suspend/resume as Matt Behrens
said in comment #5.
If after a suspend/resume, I press Fn + F2 (disables the wifi) on my
netbook and press again Fn+F2 (enables the wifi) the problem disappears.
