[Bug 537741] Re: NV18 GPU lockup with Nouveau

I just ran xorg-edgers' ppa-purge and tried the card again. I have enabled compositing in Metacity. One test was selecting the Applications menu and rapidly switching through that and Places and System, which eventually froze X. After doing Alt-SysRq-K, it allowed me to log back in, and I tried

To clarify, the one-reboot persistent freeze image I mentioned was with Compiz under xorg-edgers packages. One other odd occurrence was terminal text partially overlayed on GNOME. -- NV18 GPU lockup with Nouveau https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/537741 You received this bug notification because

[Bug 131094] Re: Heavy Disk I/O harms desktop responsiveness

2010-01-29 Thread DJR013
The latest Lucid kernel (2.6.32-12.16, 64bit) seems to have fixed this longstanding problem for me. Also, for this reason or another during the update, the initial RAM usage appeared to go down a good ~64MB. Before, this machine was mysteriously less usable than an otherwise older and slower one

[Bug 322433] Re: linux-backports-modules-2.6.28-4-generic purge fails

2009-03-27 Thread DJR013
Didn't catch this in time for the last message... I just tried purging all my linux-backports packages, plus some other old linux packages. My description appears to be wrong in including the other packages in the bug. However this time it managed to purge some of the latest linux- backports

Yes, exactly...sorry if that was a bit unclear. I removed, then attempted to purge the package. The problem is still present through version 2.6.28-10, the latest. If I had to take a random guess, I would think the packages' removal scripts are trying to remove that file on both remove and purge,
