This is now configured by right-clicking the IM icon in your task tray
and selecting 'Instant Messaging Settings' the first time it appears (it
appears twice in the list, one configures the presence icon.) Took me a
while to find that too, but this is likely as intended and not a bug.

Upon each login I must edit the IM account associated with my Gmail
account to set the password or Telepathy won't connect. I only have one
IM account configured. Further, if I don't go into the settings and set
the password again, when I attempt to set myself to Available I
I can confirm this as well on Kubuntu 15.04 Beta 2 fully upgraded as of
the day of this post. They are honoured initially but do not appear
when Dolphin is restarted. I can confirm that places elsewhere (kate)
are still available.

I received a system update on 2010-10-06 which provided a new version of
the kernel (2.6.32-25) Booting with this kernel causes a kernel panic
stating (from memory) VFS: cannot mount root fs on (0,0)
