for more then about 10 minutes, the remote hard drive went into sleep
mode, unpaused, VLC crashed after attempting to resume movie play.

Had this problem over the last three versions of Ubuntu (currently 11.10). Had
been using gnome-baker instead, but gnome-baker is not longer available on
11.10. Tried the switching of temp directories mentioned by ljsilver23 above.

the command line as my upper menu restart button disappeared after the
update. But all is back after reboot.

Same issue, system up to date as of today. Started in core1 then core 2
and stayed in core 3 until I killed it. I was looking for system
monitor and started system testing by mistake.

I have tried changing every setting that I could find with no luck. Averatec
2150 (MSI motherboard) ati m200 radeon. Not sure that this is just a ubuntu
issues as I have tried other deb based live cd's. From searching the boards
KDE suffered from the same issue but a work around (modeset=0) w
My averetec 2110(msi motherboard) with ATI Mobility x200 has the same
problem. ATI should support their old chips.
