I have a T42 with a Mobility Radeon 9600 as well. I'm using the testing
.deb that Bryce suggested. The lockup only seems to occur for me when
I'm using OpenOffice + compiz. Don't know if anyone else has experienced
that. I also have the problem with restarting the xserver--if I logout
or Ctrl+Alt+B
Just did a fresh install of Hardy (April 18). Problem seems to be fixed.
