I can confirm that the fix andrjas linked to worked for me as long as I
wasn't using an external display via the HDMI port. If the external
display was active, I could suspend successfully, but resuming would
hang.

After a little more investigation, resuming actually does work. Ubuntu
just isn't properly enabling the HDMI display when it comes back. If I
press the keyboard button to swap between internal/external display a
few times, the HDMI display comes back on.

Title:
Lenovo U300s does not suspend
To manage notifications about this bug
I blew away my Windows partition to install Ubuntu. But I've sent the
machine back to Lenovo for repairs. It's possible they'll blow away
Ubuntu and put the stock image back in place, in which case I'd be able
to update to the latest BIOS before putting Ubuntu back on there. I'll
update you as
I can confirm that I'm having the same (at least based on the visible
symptoms) suspend issues in Oneiric. I had to RMA my laptop due to a
hardware issue, but as soon as I get it back I can provide logs if
requested.

Thanks for providing that info, Matt. It looks like you're probably
dealing with a driver issue. Your iwconfig output doesn't show any link
quality or even a signal/noise level when you're connected to your
network. Without it, wicd assumes the link quality is 0, which will
lead to a
Can you enable debug mode through the preferences window, let try
connecting, let the reconnect loop run a couple of times, and then post
the contents of /var/log/wicd/wicd.log. I'd also like to see the output
of sudo iwconfig wireless interface after you connect but before
wicd disconnects you.

I actually ported the fix over to 1.6 yesterday. It still needs some
testing though, and I need to decide if it should bet possible to use
/etc/resolv.conf directly if resolvconf is installed.

We don't have any plans to create one right now, but there has been some
preliminary work done to create a system that makes it pretty easy to
implement the UI using a different GUI toolkit. If someone wanted to
update the wicd-qt project in the meantime (it's almost a year behind

One of the main reason's wicd hasn't gotten packaged yet is because we
had some design issues that made it somewhat difficult to do. In the
next few days we'll be releasing a new version, 1.5.0, that will take
care of most of them. I think we already missed the deadline for

I forgot that I had updated this a little since I had initially posted

I've run into a similar problem as everyone else here, running compiz-

not respond to clicks or keybaord input, and sshing in still works.
However I've only had it occur while resizing windows (though sometimes

Here's a patch that will clear the filter when exaile is exited, so that
the whole playlist gets saved. I'm not sure if this is the preferred
method though. You could also save the filter applied when quit to
disk, clear it, save the whole playlist as well, then reapply the filter
on open.
