[Bug 1313774] Re: interfaces man page sucks

2014-04-28 Thread Daniel Holth
The interfaces man page does mention the (apparently older) "wireless" man page. /usr/share/doc/wpasupplicant/README.Debian.gz should be a man page mentioned in "man interfaces". -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https:/

[Bug 1313774] [NEW] interfaces man page sucks

2014-04-28 Thread Daniel Holth
Public bug reported: I had a bad time trying to configure wifi on Ubuntu Server 14.04 without graphics installed. 'man interfaces' which appears to be from 2004 doesn't mention wifi and Google returns mostly outdated information on the subject. Apparently /usr/share/doc/wpa_supplicant/README.mode

2014-01-02 Thread Daniel Holth
Public bug reported: While attempting to compile pypy I noticed zlib.h doesn't compile on x64 when it's included by itself. If stdarg.h is included before including zlib.h then the problem goes away. Instead, the #idfef that guards the offending declaration in zlib.h should be tweaked to evaluate

[Bug 348202] Re: Impossible to print to custom page size in Evince

2009-07-09 Thread Daniel Holth
This problem has been part of my Linux printing experience since the first time I got a Linux-compatible printer years ago. Wedding invitations? Nope. Birthday party? No. Envelopes? Forget about it! Every major event in my life is marred by a bad printing experience. Now in Jaunty I try to print o

[Bug 148511] Re: /bin/arch command missing in Gutsy and Hardy

2008-07-19 Thread Daniel Holth
LaMont Jones, I use Ubuntu instead of Debian or Gentoo because they actually seem to care about things working for the user. But any time I want to use software that's a few years old, it fails to work due to these kinds of trivial changes. On the other hand, 20 year old DOS and Windows software st

[Bug 29009] Re: No keymap for 'Apple Extended USB Keyboard'

2007-06-12 Thread Daniel Holth
I was surprised to find the keyboard is now working, just as I had determined to fix it myself. An Ubuntu upgrade must have taken care of it. Here is the output of setxkbmap -print : xkb_keymap { xkb_keycodes { include "macintosh+aliases(qwerty)" }; xkb_types { include "co

[Bug 89780] Need udef rule for Fuji Finepix F20 digital camera

2007-03-04 Thread Daniel Holth
Public bug reported: I had to add this line to /etc/udev.d/rules.d/45-libgphoto2.rules to automatically give permissions for my camera: SYSFS{idVendor}=="04cb", SYSFS{idProduct}=="01c0", MODE="0660", GROUP="plugdev" Instead of adding this manually, it would be really cool if something could pop

2007-02-06 Thread Daniel Holth
I still have the problem, mostly. The multimedia keys work fine but I cannot use the number pad (remember, this keyboard has no numlock key, it is always supposed to be a number pad), there is an = key on the numpad that I cannot use, and there is a . on the number pad that X11 thinks is 'delete'

2007-02-06 Thread Daniel Holth
I had the same problem. I am using Edgy Eft. I got really annoyed because my disk was constantly filling up with these log messages, and having hald use 50% of my CPU all the time isn't too cool either. I don't think I was even able to log into KDE with a full disk. It's a good thing I'm a degree-
