would appear that the CD image (ISO file) you downloaded could be
corrupt. There is an easy way to verify the integrity of the Ubuntu ISO
files you download. C
Mustek has provided firmware files to this website, http://www.meier-
geinitz.de/sane/gt68xx-backend/, but unfortunately there is no file for
4800TA Pro, and the link for drivers on the Mustek site is broken. I
would suggest trying to contact Mustek to see if they will freely
provide firmware file
You can disregard the sudo modprobe instructions as they are for
previous versions of Ubuntu (before Karmic). Just do the sudo stop
network-manager instructions and follow the instructions to capture the
syslog from the "Capture Log" section

I'm still using Karmic but when I get a chance to create a vm of
Maverick or install it on another partition I'll comment on any issues
with Rhythmbox. But per the preceding comments, people have been
experiencing similar issues with Rhythmbox in Maverick that appear not
to have been pursued.
