Very very very annoying, it's impossible to rename the file at the
bottom, the tooltip hides the filename. Please remove the tooltip or
locate it over or below the selected file, but never on top of it.

Yes, they are missing in tesseract-ocr 3.03.02-3, although they were
present in Ubuntu 12.04.
It is not possible to train tesseract without those tools.

I have found several problems...
1) The training tools are not built by default because the training/
directory is not included in SUBDIRS
2) make training fails because there are some .o files remaining into
the training/ directory that should not be into the source tgz. To make
things worse,
I workaround this in acidrip by manually installing the lsdvd package
from Precise (lsdvd_0.16-3ubuntu1_amd64)

I started happening to me after an update some moths ago.
It has not been fixed by any further update, nor reinstalling software-
center.
I solved the problem removing the folder:
rm -rf
It is working properly in Ubuntu 12.04 x64, flash plugin 11,3,31,331.

I also have this problem with a LG 16x DVD-RW drive, P4 1.8 Ghz.
Tunning hdparams increased a bit the speed to 2x.
Changing the k3b process priority to 19 increased further the speed to
6x (but it is still far from 16x).
I guess the problem is related to the CPU usage: hdparams reduces CPU
