Didnt get the bug reports after the restart. Removed the quiet and
splash options from the grub_cmdline_linux_default setting, but that
doesnt seem to help. Still getting occasional crashes.
Getting close to the time to switch to redhat, or another linux, I
think.

One other thing - after restarting from the frozen session, I didnt get
any bug report dialogues coming up. Will restart again before updating
grub per prior entry and see if it asks to lodge a bug report.

get occasional periods of high latency (~5000ms), especially when
downloading large amounts of data.

Out of curiosity, has anyone tried kernel 3.9? I just upgraded to it
and... the wifi connection appears to be stable and holding, and fast.
It'll take another day or two to be sure, but immediate impressions are
quite positive.

I'm experiencing the same issues with the XPS13 (A08) and Ubuntu 13.04.
The WiFi frequently slows down, and pings to my router vary from 1ms to
1000ms and sometimes >10,000ms. I've both tried disabling power saving
on the wifi card, and also disabling 802.11n (which drastically reduced
cut-outs, bu

Running `rhythmbox -d` produces a fair bit of log output, but definitely
shows some suspicious goings on.
In the attached log I was listening to "Absolute Radio 90s". The track
ended at 22:27:11, and playback paused (sound stopped) for a couple of
seconds. A
Yeah I can confirm that running ubuntu-bug and selecting "no sound"
fixes the problem through sleep and suspend but not through restarts.
I've the same sound chip running 64-bit 11.10. I pulled my sound card,
and the on-board sound works well enough.

I had this trouble to using 10.04 and VirtualBox 3.2.0 but I eventually
got it to work. (Note that using the CD in "Live" mode always works,
it's the installation that fails.)

Just wanted to add that I was using BIOS version F.11 (Emanuele is
running BIOS version F.13). I upgraded to F.13 too, but no joy. I've now
removed 9.10 from my computer.

I see you are using BIOS version F.11, so was I. BIOS versions F.11 and
earlier cause Vista and Win 7 to fail on resume, so I though that there
may be a chance that a BIOS upgrade would fix the problem on Ubuntu
9.10. I upgraded to version F.13, but the problem still persists.

I'm sorry I have to retract my earlier comment. It was just a
coincidence that my computer didn't hang for a few days after removing
Virtual Box. It has crashed on boot several times for me just today. I
can't work like this, I'm going to have to move back to 9.04 or another
distribution.

your advice led to me being able to set the working directory for brasero so
that I can scale temp back to normal size.
I also needed to tinker a bit to trick brasero into giving gnome the gconf key
for drives. brasero was there under apps, bu

fix the underlying bug.
