Here's how the panel looks. See those icons that are really close
together? That's because they're being shown in the notification area.
The other icons (starting at indicator-keyboard) are being shown by
indicator-applet-complete.

Matthew, sorry about the incomplete information. I forgot to mention
that I'm using gnome-panel and a gnome-flashback(ish) session (xmonad +
gnome). It's in that context that I'm using indicator-applet-complete.
It worked fine with saucy. Now, I had to add the notification-area
applet to gnome-pane

I don't think this is actually a duplicate. The problem here is that
indicator-keyboard, for some reason, is resetting all the mapping
settings, so that, if I don't have indicator-keyboard running, I can use
Dmitry, I did 2 things to try to make this work, but I'm not sure which
one helped (thought uninstalling indicator-keyboard clearly was one of
them):
1. Using dconf-editor, change org.gnome.desktop.input-sources.xkb-options to
['ctrl:nocaps']
2. Add `XKBOPTIONS="ctrl:nocaps"` to `/etc/default/key
Nikolay, I believe there is a way to turn the layout switching back on.
You need to go to System Settings -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts -> Typing,
then change the accelerators for "Switch to next source" and "Switch to
previous source".

Some additional information: I mentioned that the functionality seems to
work for a few brief seconds, but actually it appears that the change is
triggered the first time (or few times) you press caps lock. It works,
and then reverts to the normal Caps Lock function.

After the last update (today) I am no longer able to remap Caps Lock to
Ctrl. I tried to set XKBOPTIONS in /etc/default/keyboard but that only
seems to work for a few brief seconds. The same happens if I invoke

Ok, my system is fully updated. I enabled the Gwibber plugin (clicked
"Gwibber", it took a few seconds before the checkbox was updated and the
Gwibber plugin settings appeared). Kupfer crashed after a few seconds. I
started it again, went to the plugins window again and Gwibber was
disabled. With G

here but, for reference, it seems the plugin causing the problem is
Gwibber. I disabled the Virtualbox plugin and Kupfer still crashed. But
disabling the Gwibber plugin will cause Kupfer to stop segfaulting. I
re-enabled the Virtu
Btw, I just tried running kufper through strace, but it didn't crash. If
I remove strace, it segfaults again.

Looks like I'm the unlucky one. Noveau doesn't work, ignoreABI doesn't
work inside xorg.conf or passed from the command line, and removing
xorg.conf just fires up the vesa driver. I'm back to nv. Ahh, the
memories... and the slowness...

Also, I should add that, using 'xinit gnome-session', the 'nvidia'
driver works fine (using xmonad with xcompmgr here). It's just gdm and
startx that don't work.

did you try the 'nv' (open source) driver as well? I tried that and it
still didn't work. I assume the 'nv' driver should work even if the
'nvidia' driver doesn't, as they are different projects.
