[Bug 46853] Re: grub install fails on EFI Intel Macs

2006-10-27 Thread David MacIntosh
Sebastien: If you boot OSX and switch to a standard PC mbr (they call it something like that) via the disk-utility, you might avoid this problem. Grub worked fine on my single-boot setup after making this change. -- grub install fails on EFI Intel Macs https://launchpad.net/bugs/46853 --

appending lpj=1000 at boot fixes this 100% of the time for me. 10mil for 2Ghz 8mil for the 1.8_hz (apparently) Ryan Lortie said: No. This problem is really the problem in bug 54621. Everyone please look there for the real cause of the problem and a better workaround. Didn't I cite Rob van

In reference to my comment above, it holds the speed during a reboot from OSX to Ubuntu (using refit). It's a step in the right direction, I suppose. -- MacBook gets extremely hot under Linux https://launchpad.net/bugs/52852 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com

[Bug 52852] Re: MacBook gets extremely hot under Linux

2006-10-19 Thread David MacIntosh
This may be a fix. A new GPL'ed OSX application called smcFanControl allows a user to control the minimum fan speed on Intel MacBooks through a simple interface. It appears that this minimum fan speed setting carries over into Edgy without issue on a multi-boot system, but more testing is needed.
