I'm going to mark this bug as invalid since Portable Ubuntu is a
separate project to Ubuntu "proper". It uses a different kernel as far

I managed to do the final test a little earlier than I had expected I
could... reproducing the exact same install scenario, but all went well
without issue. All repositories seem authenticated. Strangely, this
seems to have just been a "first day only" issue and I can only guess it
was a reposito
OK, here's the latest... I went back to the original machines installed
from the live-cd and reloaded Synaptic but STILL found all software in
the repositories to be un-authenticated.
Next, I switched the repository sources from the generic
us.archive.ubuntu.com entry to the specific ubuntu.media
I fixed this on my computer by:
sudo aptitude remove flashplugin-nonfree
sudo aptitude remove flashplugin-installer
sudo aptitude install adobe-flashplugin
And now I can watch the whale video again

Fully updated Jaunty on a Toshiba Tecra M2 laptop, experiencing weird
issue with touchpad/keyboard. Basically at random the touchpad/keyboard
will decide to stop functioning correctly. I didn't experience this
