I'm very happy to report that at least for me the bug is now gone. It
went away when I today installed bunch of ubuntu karmic updates.

I also added photograph showing the problem. The display in left
(portrait mode) shows how mouse cursor is behaving.
Oddly enough, I first tried to take a screenshot in gnome using PrntScrn
but it did not show any problems even though there in reality was.
Therefore I had to take a photo. :)
