I was able to fix this behavior using tip from mplayer2 bugtracker:
http://devel.mplayer2.org/ticket/146#comment:1
I changed line in /usr/share/applications/mplayer.desktop file from
`Exec=mplayer %U` to `Exec=mplayer -noconsolecontrols %U`.
Now it works perfectly!

Switching to nouveau drivers and setting `Option NoAccel true` helped me to
reduce flickering. Though not eliminate it completely. And of course some
operations, like window resizing, slowed down.
I'm using latest Ubuntu 10.10, 32bit, Nvidia 6150SE nForce 430.

Actually performance is awful with 'NoAccel', especially scrolling (in

I think I have similar bug, but in my case video file is not incomplete, but
corrupted. This happens in totem-video-thumbnailer but since I have totem-xine
installed and backtrace says it's libxine fault, I'm adding report here.
Please correct me if I should file it for another package.

I also noticed some non-GL screensavers appears OK—at least they were

Maybe something wrong with OpenGL related stuff? It's weird, because I
have different video cards (thus video drivers)—office one has built-in
