I still can't believe that this is not being recognized as a security
flaw. All an attacker has to do is to interrupt the VPN connection (i.e.
by jamming a WLAN signal) and bam! - lots of open ports in the local

As many people have noted, the bug tends not to appear for a while. Then
when it does, it is usually triggered several times in a row. A way I
found to make sure the next click does NOT trigger the bug when such an

I discovered something new:
Via #290177 there was a hint to manually unlock the 3G modem. I tried this to
no avail with ttyUSB0. However, using ttyUSB2 did the job. Then, the connection
fails with a message: Could not set APN.
My conclusion is that NM is talking to the Sierra Modem via the

After manually setting the PIN and APN, and removing the APN entry in
the network config, everything works and NM connects instantly.
So the problem is, I suppose, that NM talks to the Aircard on the wrong
USB port (as can be seen in the logs).

I installed JBidwatcher via the Add/Remove Applett.
When I start it using the Icon under /Applications, nothing happens.
When I start it from shell, here is the output:

Locking assertion failure. Backtrace:
It magically disappeared after a reboot yesterday. Maybe I was too quick
to ask for a reopen. Anyhow, I will do a stack trace if ever this
reappears. Thanks!

Yes, I did exactly that. Not click tray icon, run from shell instead. No
extra output on the console, only the error in Firefox.
