Metacity doesn't do a very good job of minimising overlap - it places
windows firstly into any empty space which is big enough for the entire
window, and if there isn't a space big enough to do that, it places the
window at top-left regardless of where the largest remaining space is on
the screen.

. I'm not sure what happened.
The only thing that I (Administrator) did was apply Update packages last
night. I have some really important files under that user session, so I
don't want to delete the user. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After I put the desktop in hibernate or suspend mode, I can't awaken it
unless I power-down or turn off the computer. Isn't there a way to
mimic what Windows does? I've heard that this used to work in the
Jaunty version of Ubuntu.

I've just been hit by this today, I don't recall upgrading Firefox today
but I presume I must have. I don't have the libnss3-0d package
installed, so it's not that.
I did have Firefox open and it stopped opening links from external applications
(Xchat & Evolution) in new tabs, so I closed it and
