Recently, I discovered a system that had been completely shut down for a rather
ridiculous reason.

Going into HDA Analyser and changing it from GRD to HIZ again seems to do the

reporter on whether he tried it too).
I had that PPA enabled prior on a recommendation in #ubuntu+1 for about a week
but since it did nothing, I disabled it again.
Sorry, forgot to mention that in my laundry list of failures I guess.

Oh, FWIW, I also had a volume of 0 on Speaker in alsamixer that I had to
set to max. Everything looked fine in the sound preferences, so
presumably once again there's some confusion on what channel things are

Extracted tracks from a CD. Songs listed in RhythmBox library with Track No,

I can confirm that the bug starts with 2.6.32-24 in Lucid. I get a hard
lock every night on that kernel when my incremental backup runs and
snapshots /var. If I switch back to 2.6.32-23, everything works great. I
also tried the latest nightly (vmlinuz-2.6.35-999-generic) and I get the

The one correction I didn't see explicitly made by the others is that you don't
have to reboot if you mistype your password.
Just wait a few seconds for the presumably invisible shake, then try
again.

of that was the ubunto one sync client (killed it).
400 megabytes of it though was the gnome-power-manager - and this on a
desktop plugged into a UPS.

Encountering same issue w/ Ubuntu as a vmware guest. Very unpleasant
since I'd only recently made the move to the new virtual server layout.

All text files will not print from gedit. I have attached just one of
many.
Print to file of either .pdf, .ps or .svg do not produce these files.
Do I need to do an uninstall/reinstall of gedit to cure problem?
